Founded by The Flagship Inc. in Norfolk, Virginia in 2005, Heroes at Home is a very highly regarded, regional recognition program that honors military spouses from all ranks and all branches for their for their strength, sacrifices, volunteerism and support for the military community. For more than a decade, Heroes at Home has recognized our military spouses for their important contributions to our local communities and has empowered military spouses to further their mission in support of the military community and our country.
Over the years, this program has expanded to Fort Lee, Virginia and Jacksonville, Florida. We are very pleased to announce that in 2017 Heroes at Home will become a statewide program in Virginia. We are working in association with the First Lady of Virginia, Mrs. McAuliffe, to expand the Central Virginia region and will be adding a Northern Virginia event. The finalists from the Hampton Roads, Central Virginia and Northern Virginia regions will all be invited to luncheon reception with Governor and Mrs. McAuliffe at the Governor's Mansion in Richmond, Virginia. These deserving honorees will be lauded for their important contributions in our local communities and their unwavering commitment to our country. We will also announce a Heroes at Home Virginia Spouse of the Year for each branch of service at this reception.
The military and civilian communities will come together in this April and May in each region to honor and recognize our military spouses for their unending strength, their extraordinary personal sacrifices and for the challenges they overcome every day.
