Art Show

Locally held art show with tourist browse art work for sale from vendors who come from all over the United States.

Out of an abundance of caution regarding the pandemic and in consultation with the City of Virginia Beach, the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) will hold the 2021 Boardwalk Art Show October 22-24, 2021 rather than the traditional June timing. “Given that there are so many unknowns about the future course of COVID, we have decided to present the show on a weekend in which we have a high level of confidence that health concerns won’t prohibit the show from taking place on the boardwalk. Everyone loves the boardwalk location, and we want to make sure we can uphold this 65-year old tradition,” said Virginia MOCA Executive Director Gary Ryan.

“Planning is underway to make the art show weekend even more fun through partnerships with the Atlantic Avenue Association and the ViBe Creative District. We see the art experience starting on the Boardwalk and extending throughout the resort area,” said Kerry O’Donnell, the Virginia MOCA Boardwalk Art Show Director.

Stacy Kotarides, owner of Dough Boy’s Pizza and member of the Atlantic Avenue Association, said “The Atlantic Avenue Association is thrilled to partner with the Boardwalk Art Show to expand the footprint of the event and reach more visitors and Virginia Beach residents!”

Kate Pittman, Executive Director of the ViBe Creative District said, "In partnering with Boardwalk Art Show for 2021, the ViBe District hopes to be the added bonus for those attending this significant outdoor display of fine art. Visitors are welcome to take a leisure walk through the streets of the ViBe to find hundreds of free public artworks, dozens of local artisans and businesses and some of the best culinary arts found in Virginia Beach."

The Boardwalk Art Show is one of the only outdoor art shows produced by an art museum and strives to feature the highest caliber fine art and contemporary craft. Consistently rated as one of Sunshine Artist’s Top 100 Art Shows, the Boardwalk Art Show will still feature many amenities including:

A prize fund of approximately $25,000, including a $7,500 Best-in-Show award

Over 300 volunteers, booth sitters, overnight security, and on-site storage

Artist Drive-On Program for easy load-in and load-out

Increased marketing support from the City of Virginia Beach targeting art enthusiasts along the east coast

Application Deadline: April 30, 2021, late applications will be accepted until May 31, 2021 for an additional $10.00

COVID-19 Cancellation Policy: 100% full refund before June 30, 2021 less the 2.95% Zapplication fee.

If Virginia MOCA cancels the art show at any point, refunds will be issued in full less the 2.95% Zapplication fee.
