World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) made their return to Norfolk Scope on May 16, 2022 for their Monday Night Raw television broadcast on USA Network. The sold-out Norfolk crowd packed the hot arena and were treated to a night full of surprises and great entertainment. Kicking off the broadcast was a steel cage match between Omos and “The All Mighty” Bobby Lashley. Originally from Nigeria, Omos initially settled in the Chesapeake, Virginia area when coming to the United States, and this would be the big man’s first opportunity to perform in front of the Norfolk crowd.

Lashley appeared to bring Omos down to size with the Hurt Lock. As Lashley would attempt to climb out of the cage, former Hurt Business member Cedric Alexander climbed the outside of the cage to interfere. After Alexander got thrown to the mat from the top of the cage, Omos recovered and slammed Lashley into the steel cage wall. The force of the slam broke the cage wall down, resulting in a victory for Lashley with both of his feet hitting the floor.

“The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes returned to the arena in which his father “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes performed decades ago. Addressing the crowd, Rhodes laid down a challenge to his opponent Seth Freakin’ Rollins. These two men have been in each other’s business since Nightmare made his WWE return at WrestleMania 38 as Rollins’ surprise

opponent. In their two past premium live event encounters, Rhodes came away the victor. As Rollins demonstrated that he cannot move past those losses, the two men will seek to resolve their issues inside Hell in a Cell on June 5. Fans in attendance witnessed Rhodes and Rollins squaring off in an exciting non-televised match following the live broadcast. After Rhodes won

with a trio of Cross Rhodes maneuvers, fans gathered at ringside to snap photos with the man who has garnered a lot of attention within the WWE fanbase despite only having been back with the company since April.

On the broadcast, Raw Tag Team Champion Riddle and SmackDown Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso were in a singles match. Riddle got the victory, overcoming the interference by Jey Uso at ringside. This victory gave Riddle and Randy Orton, collectively RK-Bro, the momentum heading into the WWE Tag Team Championship unification match that occurred on the May 20 episode of Smackdown. Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns laid on the pressure, implying that The Usos would have to secure a victory that evening or else be removed from The Bloodline. On this occasion, The Usos left RK-Bro laying and are now the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions.

With Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair watching from ringside, Becky Lynch and Asuka competed to earn the championship match against Belair at the June 5 Hell in a Cell premium live event. Behind the referee’s back, Lynch tried to hit Asuka with an umbrella. Asuka countered with the green mist to Lynch’s face and kick to the head, securing her championship opportunity.
