Close your eyes and envision a nautical holiday wonderland of more than a million bright lights twinkling against the Atlantic as you’re lacing up for a run on the Virginia Beach boardwalk. Now open your eyes and imagine no more! J&A Racing brings you the Great Outdoor Provision Co. Surf-n-Santa 5 Miler presented by Bon Secours In Motion on December 16, 2017. All of our participants will receive a 5 piece Santa Suit and will set off into a nautical holiday wonderland along the Atlantic Ocean. The event is held at twilight along the boardwalk so runners can enjoy the Holiday Lights Merry Mile (named by USA Today as one of the Top 10 Best Holiday Light Displays in the country) and a festive evening being mesmerized by the holiday spirit.

Last year, 5,025 race participants dressed in Santa suits crossed the finish line at the Surf-N-Santa 5 Miler in Virginia Beach, unofficially breaking the Guinness World Record for the Largest Santa Claus Run.

Jerry Frostick, the event’s race director and owner of J&A Racing, explained that to go after a record like this, it required making a detailed list (and presumably checking it twice).

The most complicated Guinness requirement: participants needed to be wearing all five pieces of the Santa suit provided to them for the duration of the race, including red pants, a red jacket, hat, black belt, and a white beard in order to count toward breaking the world record.

Time will tell if yet another record-setting year, but regardless, a great time is guaranteed. All participants will receive awesome swag including the 5-piece Santa Suit a unique medal, a finisher’s item, free photos and more. Best of all, all participants are invited to the post-race party inside the Virginia Beach Convention Center featuring live music, brew from Samuel Adams and other goodies. As always, parking at the convention center is free.

The Surf-N-Santa 5 Miler starts at 4:30 p.m. and the Post Race Rockin’ Party will be held at the finish line at the Virginia Beach Convention Center from 5–8 p.m.
