Local professional wrestling promotion Vanguard Championship Wrestling (VCW) returns to Windsor High School in Windsor, Va., on Jan. 4. Proceeds from the second annual event will benefit the Windsor Dukes wrestling team. Making his return to VCW will be former Heavyweight Champion and professional wrestling Hall of Famer Billy Gunn, taking on his former rival “Mr. Xcellence” Brandon Scott. Gunn and other stars will also be on hand to meet and take photos with fans at the event.

At December’s Tidings of Destruction event in Norfolk, VCW Heavyweight Champion Gino retained his title against “Greek God” Papadon. Following the contest, Ken Dixon attacked the champion from behind with several chair shots to the back. In Windsor, Gino will seek revenge while defending his title against Dixon. Speaking of attacks, The Sanctuary’s leader Timmy Danger has avoided a one-on-one contest with Phil Brown in recent weeks. After being able to defeat Mike Oridge and Leo Kirby in separate contests, the other members of The Sanctuary then attacked Brown to leave him lying. Brown has made the challenge to defend his VCW United States Liberty Championship against Danger in Windsor, but will Danger finally accept?

After his impressive debut in VCW back in October, Jordan Oliver will return to compete for Colby Corino’s VCW Commonwealth Heritage Championship. Previously, Oliver was not able to pick up a victory over Gino after having won a number one contender’s match for Gino’s title earlier that same evening. Who will pick up the victory in this battle of young stars?

A Titles versus Careers match In December saw Simply Safe-ish retain their VCW Tag Team Championships against the careers of The Hell Cats. The team of Joe King and Demented Bradley, collectively known as The Real Life Freaks, will step up to challenge for the Tag Team titles in Windsor. Windsor High School is located at 24 Church Street in Windsor, Virginia. All tickets to the event are $20 and the action starts at 7:30 p.m..
