Vanguard Championship Wrestling (VCW) will present the 13th annual Liberty Lottery event in Norfolk on July 27. WWE Hall of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan will be appearing at the event and meeting fans. Featured for the event is the twenty-man Liberty Lottery battle royal. Twenty men will enter that match in intervals, names drawn randomly from the fans at ringside. Whoever is not thrown over the top rope with both of their feet touching the floor will be awarded with a championship opportunity of their choosing within 12 months. Timmy Danger won the Lucky 7 battle royal in June to secure the final entry spot in the Liberty Lottery.

VCW Heavyweight Champion “The Latin Heartthrob” Gino will defend his title against Damien Wayne. The issues between these two men have been brewing since March. Fans will remember that within minutes of Gino winning the Heavyweight Title from Gangrel in Hampton, Damien Wayne attacked Gino and nearly pile drove him on the wooden floor. In June, Referee Ron Mils was knocked out during Gino’s title defense against Joe Keys. Wayne came to the ring and made himself the special guest referee, shirt and all. Gino was able to overcome the odds, reviving the referee and retaining his championship.

Looking to continue his winning streak, Irvin Legend will challenge VCW United States Liberty Champion Phil Brown for the title in a Last Man Standing match. At the June event, Legend attacked Brown with a punch weighted by a roll of quarters during an interview segment. Legend has Brown’s attention and isn’t going to take his competition lightly.

In another championship match, VCW Tag Team Champions The Hell Cats will put their titles on the line against The Golden Pinky Society. Through nefarious tactics, The Hell Cats have been able to retain their titles in recent months. Most recently, The Golden Pinky Society were moments away from potentially winning the Tag Team titles last month. However, The Hell Cats forced the disqualification by hitting Benjamin Banks with their title belt. This match will be a Granby Street Fight, meaning anything goes and there will be no disqualifications.

Fresh off of his appearance on the WWE Network for Evolve’s Tenth Anniversary Event, VCW Commonwealth Heritage Champion Colby Corino will defend his title against former champion Ken Dixon. Since February, Corino has successfully defended his title against stars such as Shane Douglas and Brysin Scott. In June, Ken Dixon defeated Caleb Konley to put him right back in contention for Corino’s title.

Norfolk Masonic Temple is located at 7001 Granby Street in Norfolk, Virginia. Doors open at 6 PM for fans to meet the stars of the evening. “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan will also be meeting with fans for photos and autographs prior to the event. The wrestling action kicks off at 7:30 PM. Advance tickets for the event and the Scott Steiner meet and greet can be purchased at
